Commitment to Service Award

Charity Gala

Russ Dunman Roast 2016
Since 2005, the signature fundraising event of the Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club has been the Commitment to Service Award (C2SA) gala. Held in the spring, the event recognizes a local individual whose selfless contributions to charitable and community service have had a positive impact on the Montgomery region. Our event has been graced by the presence of these distinguished past honorees:

The Commitment to Service Award features a silent auction and social hour followed by a formal banquet and presentation of the award to the honoree by his or her friends. The C2SA is held at the RSA Activities Center downtown; dress is formal or semi-formal.

The Montgomery Sunrise Foundation has been established as a 501(c)3 charitable organization to receive and distribute the funds raised by C2SA. A committee evaluates grant requests from area charities and selects one or more recipients for grants awarded at the event. Representatives of the chosen organizations are usually present at C2SA to receive the grant. Grants of more than $176,000 have been distributed since 2005 to local charities including the American Red Cross of Central Alabama, Child Protect, Family Sunshine Center, Lighthouse Counseling Center, Medical Outreach Ministries, Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless, Montgomery Area Boys & Girls Clubs, Montgomery Area Council on Aging, and the Nellie Burge Community Center.
